mobileRINGS is an iOS application for users to utilize RINGS tools to analyze glycan structures. RINGS (Resource for INformatics of Glycomes at Soka) is a web resource for the analysis of glycan structures using bioinformatics techniques such as data mining and computational theory. The URL is http://www.rings.t.soka.ac.jp/.
mobileRINGS provides access to four RINGS tools: Glycan Miner, GPP (Glycan Pathway Predictor), ProfilePSTMM, and MCAW (Multiple Carbohydrate Alignment with Weights):
Glycan Miner: To mine alpha-closed frequent subtrees from a set of glycan structures.
GPP: To dynamically compute the N-glycan biosynthesis pathway from a given glycan structure.
ProfilePSTMM: To use a probabilistic model that can find patterns (profiles) in glycan structures.
MCAW: To align a set of glycan structures and visualize the results as a glycan profile.
mobileRINGS also provides functionality such as to search glycan structures from the RINGS database, and to manage users’ data as stored on the RINGS server.
